College Application Essay (Draft)
1. Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story.
Dribbling the ball up and down the court is almost a daily activity. Sweaty foreheads and sweaty shirts fill the air with the aroma of the basketball court. Feet stampeding across the court and squeaking from baseline to baseline. All of this, just to put the ball in the basket. This is what I've done for as long as I can remember. I started playing with a ball in my hands before I could even walk. Ive been on a team since the age of 5. Although I have started playing at a young age, my love for the game has never faded. This game has been a part of me for my whole life.
Just like anybody playing basketball it has been a journey for me and it has not been easy. During my Freshmen year I had suffered from a season ending injury. The day before tryouts I had gone to the doctors to get my ankle checked out. They made me take a series of X-rays and MRI's until the doctor had finally told me I had Osteochondral lesions of the talus. He said that there was a part of my bone that died and that I couldn't play basketball this year. I couldn't even touch the ball for a total of 8 months. Once I was able to play again I had to re-learn everything I forgot how to do so many things that I could do easily before. And it was very frustrating, I was always mad about how I wasn't getting the results that I would be getting before. But I had learned how to deal with it, I just had to practice playing a different style. I had to play slower and smarter instead of more athletic and aggressive. And it worked I just kept working at playing smarter and smarter and it definitely gave me results that I was happy with.
Ever since I was born my mom and dad have been my biggest supporters. When I was a baby they would play bouncy ball with me or they would even play with me on my little tites hoop. And as I grew older and started becoming more serious about basketball my mom became more of my number 1 fan, and my dad became like my personal coach. My mom was usually one of the team moms on what ever team I was on at the time. And my dad would try to be one of the assistant coaches on the team. But if he couldn't that meant that just me and him would be going to the park more by ourself's to work on my game and do drills. Me and my dad were always like best friends we like most of the same things and act exactly the same so it was no wonder that after all these years that it was so easy for him to coach me.
Basketball is one of the biggest parts of my life. It really helped me find out who I really am. And it has a lot to do with the person that I am today. But it also comes at its own price because there will always be obstacles for me bigger than the ones that I have faced so far. And I have to remember to always remain calm and take it easily one step at a time and to not let it consume me. I also have to thank my parents for always being by my side and kept pushing me to pursue basketball and be the best that I can be.

Paragraph Thingy
The big game was on. Me and my friends had been anxiously waiting the whole week for this game. We gathered in the local Irish pub to watch it. It was a great game so far, the score was tied at 21-21 at the end of the half. I had placed a bet on this game with my good friend Billy. I don't usually place bets with Billy because he is a sore loser and always is a pain in my behind to pay up. But this time he seemed different he seemed as if he was confident instead of his usually salty self. So when I talked to him he said that he had done his homework and that here is a 75% chance of his team winning. Of corse that had me nervous but I still had my faith once the game started. And I had no reason to be nervous once the second half started. The score went from being 21-21 to 42-28 going into the fourth quarter. Everyone in the pub had also been going for the team that I had bet on. So when they had scored yet another touchdown in the fourth quarter everyone was going nuts. Well everyone except for billy who sat cross armed by the bar table next to the bud light sign.
I had never seen something like this before. There was a man that was about to attempt to walk across two sky scrapers on nothing but a thin piece of string. And may I mind you that the man had nothing below to catch him so if he fell he would die. Everyone had their phones out ready to record this man doing this insane stunt. As the man took his first step on the line you could feel the nervousness from everyone. While the man was going across the line I was probably more nervous than the man was, my hands were shaking like it was on vibrate. The man seemed to be doing great until he just got a little past the middle, he almost tripped. He was struggling to find his balance his body was swaying with the line to get his balance back. But he eventually found it and once he did you could smell everyones breaths as we all sighed in relief. When the man reached the end everybody went crazy we all screamed and cheered for that man.

College application Essay Prompt
The college application essay demonstrates your ability to write clearly and concisely on a selected topic and helps you distinguish yourself in your own voice. What do you want the readers of your application to know about you apart from courses, grades, and test scores? Choose the option that best helps you answer that question and write an essay of no more than 650 words, using the prompt to inspire and structure your response. Remember: 650 words is your limit, not your goal. Use the full range if you need it, but don’t feel obligated to do so. (The Common Application won’t accept a response shorter than 250 words.)

College Questions
Saint Mary's:
I would like to go to this school because I really like how it is on the west coast and is not too far from home but far enough to be away and to experience new things. And I especially like how it is in a good driving distance from San Francisco because I've always liked the thought about living next too or in a big city so it already seems like a reasonable choice for me. But the location of saint Mary's isn't the only thing that interest me, what also interest me is that the student body isn't big its enrollment count is only like 4,000 something so I can interact with new people more on a personal level and also not get lost in the drift. And another big benefactor that interest me a lot is that its athletics are D1 which is a big plus because I would hopefully like to play basketball for them and to be able to root for the other games at the other games also.
UC Davis:
I like this college because I like the fact that they have a lot of programs and facilities that you as a student are able to go to at your disposal and make the most of. I also like how it too is in California on the west coast. Another thing that I really like is that Their athletics are D1.
Portland State University:
I like this school because of this location on the west coast. I also like that they are sponsored by Nike so they get nicer facilities and a lot of nice gear too. And I also like that their athletics are D1. And I like how it is a good mid major school too.
Seattle Pacific University:
I would like to go to this school because its on the west coast. Also that their enrollment count isn't the high either so I won't get lost as much. Another reason is that Their athletics are D1. And their classes are a lot smaller.
Pacific University:
I would enjoy going to this school because it is in the pac 12. I also like that it is near portland oregon. Another reason why I like this college is because they have a high acceptance rate and has a low enrollment of only like 3,000-4,000.

Coming Of Age Essay (Final)
Fearing the thoughts of other people is experienced in every teenager. Before and in the beginning freshman year I would always care too much about what other people thought of me. With over thinking about my effect on people made me more scared of doing many things. And to this day I regret it, I was too shy and I have missed out on a lot of things because of that. Then came along the extra baggage I had to lug around that’s called “The Boot”.
It was called Osteochondral lesions of the talus. It is basically a part of my ankle bone had died because there was not enough blood flowing to that part of it. When the doctor came in the room and gave me the news that I couldn't play any sports this year my heart dropped. I felt like shit, I had to remain crippled for most of the year. I remember sitting in the doctor's office with tears coming down my face, while my mom was talking to my doctor in shock. Saying “ No doctor that can’t be true, the test results must be wrong.” Having the boot was a big learning curve for me. I remember the first week after I had received the news that I was still in shock like “I cannot believe this is happening to me”, “what am I gonna do?”, “What are people gonna think of me?” then, In the second week that I was more mad, like I would say things like “Why does it have to be me?”, “ Why couldn’t we deal with this earlier or faster?”. And by the third week I was just tired of complaining already, I realized that my foots not gonna heal faster if I continue to feel bad for myself and complain. And that I can’t feel bad for myself the whole time. Before I had the boot I couldn’t wait for anything I had no patience at all. I always wanted things done then and there I hated waiting. And things have changed by now. I would also always consciously worry about what people thought of me, It was always something that I would worry about before and I would over think about it too much. But from being in the boot people look at you and treat you differently, a lot of people treat you as if you can't do anything, or they feel really bad for you. And for me that was one of the worst parts about being in the boot. I never really liked how everyone felt bad for me because I just always kept the thought in my mind that someone out there had it worse than me and couldn't come back from it at all so they should feel bad for them instead of me. But eventually I had gotten used to how people looked at me and just didn't care anymore. And that translated to how I am without the boot, now that I am out of the boot I don't care about how I look anymore and I have more self love about myself, knowing that I am who I am and I can't change that and I shouldn't for anyone, so I should just embrace myself more now and not care about what other people think of me.
Being in the boot has taught me so much. And it has had to do a lot with who I am today. I don't care anymore about my fear about what people think of me, I can understand waiting longer and I am actually ok with waiting longer now too. But I feel like being in the boot has also brought me closer with my self and to start understanding myself better now. And I am willing to do more things and try new things now.

Abstract & Concrete Paragraphs
What was hoping to be a great day turned into a horrible one. It was the third a final day of bid sales for winter fan. I had been too late the first two days to even get a ticket, Because I am so small that while I raced to get in line I got thrown around and pushed to the side by everyone. But this time I was determined to get a ticket, all of my other friends had already gotten theirs so i wasn't going to be the only one not going. 5 Min before the class bell rang I tightened my shoes and waited anxiously by the door. I had a good feeling about it this time. I sprinted like I never had before to get into line. I was the 10th one in line. I kept moving closer and closer. Then it finally became my turn. But thats when the disaster struck. I went to grab my form and check. But it wasn't there! I was the only one that didn't go to winter fan,
I was fed up! It was my granddaughters 7th birthday party. The party was full of fun and joy there were multiple bounce houses with many games to play for the kids too. And I made cookies for everyone. But it seemed as if no one liked it. At first they kept their mouths shut and didn't say anything at all about it. But then came the first person to tell me that they didnt' like my cookies at all. Naturally it hurt my felling but I brushed it all fairly easily. And then came the second person to tell me that they didn't like my cookies, Then one after another one after another, everyone started to tell me that they didn't like my cookies. Even my niece that I made the cookies for told me straight in the face that she doesn't Like my cookies. So I became so aggravated that I grabbed my block and shot a couple in the air.
I had received some of the worst news that a child should ever have to hear. My dad was gonna be deployed. I had loved my dad. He was my best friend, we did everything together. But when I found out that he was going to be deployed I couldn't help but to break down and start crying. I was so worried that something was gonna happen to him as he served our great country. I didn't want to know that my dad had a high chance of dying or getting severely injured. One of the things that we would always do together was play tea party with my dolls. So that he could remember that well I made sure that he drank a nice cup of hot tea and gave him one of my dolls to take with him, Then i leaped into his arms and had him carry me to the car. I was crying as I waved by to him. It was the saddest day of my life.

Dear Netflix Administration,
I have thoroughly enjoyed your program and service for many years. I love your wide selections of TV shows and movies, the different categories that you have for different age groups, and your reasonable prices.
Although, I have been having some problems with your updates. I feel like you guys could do a better job with updating your system with newer movies. some big box office movies come on DVD and I believe that if those movies come out on DVD that they should also be there on netflix. Netflix is my go to and only system to stream movies and if I can't find a movie On there I don't really have much more options to see that movie and it makes me feel less or trust Netflix less. And I am Informing you about this because I feel like it is a big flaw within Netflix and that many people have this problem, and I would really benefit you with better customer satisfaction and maybe even more people registering for Netflix.
Sincerely,
Duncan Clark

Digital Life (Final)
Social media is great! Social media can help us connect better with friends and family, it can allow us to see what kind of things people around the world are doing, it can even give us warnings a head of time of upcoming events. But social media can also be a very dark and scary place even I don't want to get on it sometimes. Social media makes teens insecure about themselves about things like wanting to fit in, their looks/body, and in some cases it makes them feel unwanted. And this happens to everyone today in some type of way.
Social media may stir up a lot of insecurities but it can also be good for facing them. If you are insecure about something and you post something online facing that insecurity depending on your followers they can help you get through that insecurity. Another reason why it is good is because it can make you feel better about yourself if you post something say a selfie and you get these comments like " wow you look amazing ", or if they comment a heart eyes it can actually make you feel better about your self and boost your self confidence. So although many people may perceive social media as something to just make you more insecure it can actually have some perks to make your feel better about yourself and feel better and boost your self esteem.
Imagine your sitting at home all of the time and you never go out but you always see the people you know your friends going out 24/7 and always posting about it on social media sites like Instagram, and you are never invited, how would you feel about that? That is exactly what a lot of teenagers feel today. "High school students who feel they do not fit in are less likely to attend college" phys.org. This is an example of how social media can effect you in the future and how if you let it consume you it can take away your hopes and dreams. "Particularly at risk were girls who are obese, who are 78 percent less likely to attend college than non-obese girls, and those who are gay, who are 50 percent less likely to attend." News.utexas.edu.com. And this also shows the type of people that it primarily effects and and the percentages of those people. So having the feeling of not fitting in is one of the main insecurities with in social media because you are seeing people post of going out all the time and you not being invited can make you and the people around you very insecure.
Another big thing that teens get insecure about is their looks and body image on social media. But it's not just seeing other peoples nice body that makes teens insecure but it can also be the stages of puberty that we are going in. "The changes of puberty and resulting sexual maturation often make adolescents feel self-conscious and awkward about their bodies." Education.com. This gives us a insight of another thing that majorly influences teens feelings of insecurities of their body, and how it's not by seeing other people making us feel insecure but it's from with in ourselves and how this contributes to also seeing people's nice body's and then looking at yours and feeling ashamed. "A study found that adolescent girls were more fearful of gaining weight than getting cancer, nuclear war or losing their parents" justsayyes.org. This shows how bad teens worry about their size or how big they are because socia media has brought upon this almost rules on how you should look and how skinny or muscular you must be and it is sad to see that this frightens teens this much and that they have to even worry about it.
Although social media can be a good thing for us by making us feel better about our selfs but it has mostly a negative effect on teens for insecurities. It shows proof that it makes teens insecure about their body's it also shows proof that it makes teens feel like they don't fit in. Insecurities has become a bigger issue with in the last few years and it's been growing at increasingly fast rate and has shown no sign of slowing down. And the only possible ways to stop this now is for parents to instill a sense of self worth in their children from a young age. And hopefully if everyone does that the percentage of insecurities with in teens about social media may go down.

Digital Life (rough draft)
Social media is great! Social media can help us connect better with friends and family, it
can allow us to see what kind of things people around the world are doing, it can even give us
warnings a head of time of upcoming events. But social media can also be a very dark and scary
place even I don't want to get on it sometimes. Social media makes teens insecure about themselves
about things like wanting to fit in, their looks/body, and in some cases it makes them feel unwanted.
And this happens to everyone today in some type of way.
Although social media can make teens insecure it can also help teens face those insecurities. "When a person is insecure in their relationship and feeling down about their partner, they take to
Facebook for some kind of validation." This is how some people use social media to make them feel better about themselves they use it as a outlet to let people know whats going on in their lives at that moment. But this can also be a bad thing for those people that do it too much "We all know at least one person who turns to social media to constantly do one thing: complain about EVERYTHING imaginable. Whether it’s about an ex or school or just life in general, these people don’t hesitate to make a Facebook status or tweet about it… like maybe five times a day." This is a bad thing because they feel more comfortable writing about their feelings in the public rather tan face to a real person where if its in the public there is more of a chance that they will get judged and feel even more about themselves after seeing those comments.
A lot of teenagers love clothes and love to get new ones, it makes them feel better about themselves, it makes them feel more wanted it, makes them feel special and pretty. That's the reason behind why girls wear make up. "Girls use clothes, accessories, and fashion to define themselves, make statements about their choice of peer group, and to establish their psychological identities." this shows one way that teens feel better about themselves or make them feel better about themselves. its also one of the things that teens are the most insecure about. "Fifty-six percent of women revealed that they were dissatisfied with their overall appearance, and an astounding 89% of women wanted to lose weight." This goes to show that a large chunk of out teenage population is insecure about their body.
In some cases teenagers feel as if they are unwanted, and feel like they are invisible to everyone else. This is probably the worst that it can get. "i am at the point that i hate myself and anybody else and I feel like theres no hope and i thought that you might be able to give me some advise since you are good at stuff like that. my mom is always screeming at me and her and my dad don’t love me and i don’t know why cause i try to do everything i can and i’m not a bad kid but they always tell me i am in fact my mom today sayd that i am one of gods biggest mistakes cause i slept threw my alarm and missed my bus. my dad doesnt ever hit me but he is always calling me an idiot or a retard or stuff like that. anyway at school i don’t really have very many friends cause i’m to shy i guess. i don’t know what to do cause i am just wanting to give up even trying anymore cause why should i? have you ever felt like nobody cares if you just disappear cause i really feel that way even with my parents.” this is what happened to one of the teenagers that feels unwanted and as you can see it is a very dark and scary state to be in and this is why I also think that this is the worse case of insecurities because no one especially teens should feel this way about themselves. They should not hate themselves.
So as you can see social media can make teens very insecure, and these are just some of the things that they get insecure about (Looks/body, feeling unwanted, wanting to fit in) So with social media being a big part of todays society it has increased the amount of insecurities and if it continues to grow at this rate it will get out of hand and it will maybe to late to stop. And a way that we can stop it is by simply giving support at and encouragement at a young age.

Merchant Of Venice Final
Love is one of the most powerful words known to man. Greed is one of the biggest sins known to man. These two words can make someone who they really are and bring out their true personalitys. The book " The Merchant Of Venice " by Shakespear is all about that. The difference between Love and Greed, how they are connetcted, and what it can do to people. And That is exactly what I am going to talk about.
Love and Greed are two very different things. They are almost polar opposites. One represents happiness and the other one represents greed. In this book one of the main characters Shylock is the face of greed he was so greedy that he didnt even care how he looks as long as he got what he wants. For example "if every ducat in your six thousand ducats had six parts and every part were a ducat, I would not take the money. I want my bond!"pg. 159. What was happening in that scene was they were in the court room andShylock wouldnt take the money from Bassanio even though he had doubled the amount that is owed because all that he wanted was a pound of Antonios flesh. And Antonio the other main character is the face of love. No matter what happened to Antonio he just accepted it and did not complain at all. For example "very little. Ihave braced my self and i'm well prepared." this is an example of how he has never complained even when shylock so desperatly wanted a peice of his very flesh.
Even though Love and Greed are opposites they can still be connected, Because there is no love without greed just like there is no super hero with no super villian. it can also be connected because with love you love that person or thing so much that you dont want to let go and with greed you love that thing so much that you dont want to let go. For example "In Belmont is a lady richly left, And she is fair, fairer than the word, Of wondrous virtues." This is what Bassanio said to Antonio when he was telling him why he needs the money. And it shows that love and greed are connected because bassanio loves that girl and he loves that girl so much that he is willing to do anything to at least get a chance to get with her which he ended up doing. Another example is "An honest exceeding poor man." this also proves that love and greed are connected because it shows that he loves exceeding but he hates being poor so he would do anything which is greedy to become rich.
Love and Greed have a tremendos effect on how people precieve of you. for example "This is not an answer, you callous man, to make excuses for your cruelty!(Bassanio) I am not obliged to please you with my answers!(Shylock)" This shows the effect that greed has on people because Shylock is about as greedy as they get. He will litterally jump in front of a train if it ment getting what he wants. And that persona makes him seem old and cruel and now no one really likes him anymore because of that. An example of how love affects you is " You know all my wealth is tied up in cargoes. Ihavent the ready cash, or things to sell, to raise the money now. so go and see what my credit is good for in venice. " this shows that Antonio is a very kind and loving in person because even though he was very depressed at that time he still gave plenty of money to his friend Bassanio. And because of his kind and loving nature he ended up haveing a happy life after it all he dosent have that much money but that dosent bother him by his thankfullness and happiness.
" The Merchant of Venice " book is all about love and greed and how greed never wins. And how it can affect the way that people look at you and how it is different yet similar, and this book also goes on about how if you choose Love how you will be treated and how if you choose Greed how you will be treated. and pretty much its saying what goes around comes around. But also Love is the passageway to happiness and with Greed you will never succeed. And we should always know the burden that greed can have on you and the praise that love can have on you.

Merchant Of Venice
Love is one of the most powerful words known to man. Greed is one of the biggest sins known to man. These two words can make someone who they really are and bring out their true personalitys. And we learned this from the book "Merchant Of Venice" The two main characters Antonio and Shylock are two prime examples of Love and Greed and also how it shows who you really are. Shylock is ends up losing everything and is really greedy and Antonio loses all of his money but is still very happy and loved more people then being greedy.
Shylock is the face of greedy he is cruel and mean man that will not be satisfied untill he gets the things that he wants. For example "if every ducat in your six thousand ducats had six parts and every part were a ducat, I would not take the money. I want my bond!"pg. 159. He would not take Bassanios money even though he doubled the monet that Shylock was supposed to get from Antonio. That just shows how he wouldnt stop for anything less than a pound of antonios flesh. Another example is when when the judge said that shylock was not allowed to make a drop of blood or else all of his things would be confiscated. And thats when he finally gave up. It took being threatened of taking away all of his posesions to stop him.
Although Shylock is the face of greed Antonio is a matter of fact the face of love. No matter what happened to Antonio he just accepted it and did not complain at all. For example "very little. Ihave braced my self and i'm well prepared."this is an example of how he has never complained even when shylock so desperatly wanted a peice of his very flesh. Another example is " you know all my wealth is tied up in cargoes. I haven't the ready cash, or things money now so go and see for what my credit is worth." Bassanio didnt haveany money to go and see the girl of his dreams that he would later marry. so he went to go and see Antonio for money which Antonio so generously gave him by negotiating a deal with the devil.
" The Merchant of Venice " book is all about love and greed and how greed never wins. And there is both a face for greed and in this case it is Antonio for Love and Shylock for Greed, and this book also goes on about how if you choose Love how you will be treated and how if you choose Greed how you will be treated. and pretty much its saying what goes around comes around. But also Love is the passageway to happiness and with Greed you will never succeed.

Merchant of Venice questions #2
Choosing a man sutible for Portia is out of her hands because she doesn't not have a say in who she wants to marry and it is rather up to get father the king.
Shylock is the guys that Antonio gets money from with his credit. The importance that Shylock had right now is that he had to get money from him so that bass snip can go and see that girl.
The agreement that shylock and Antonio come to terms with is that Antonio has to pay Shylock back with in a month and if he dosent then Shylock is going to get a pound of flesh from Antonio.
Shylock is hesitant to make this deal because they do not have the best terms together and they don't really get a long that well because Shylock is a Jew and Antonio is another religion so they automatically have racial tension with eachother and Shylock is also very racist.
By the way that Antonio comes off to me yes I would trust Antonio because I know that he has money and he also comes off as very like able. But if I were put into shy locks shoes then I dont think that I would trust him as much because we have tension between us.

Mice & Men Paragraphs
Character Analysis
Lennie certainly isn’t the brightest character in this book but he makes up for in size and strength. For example we all know that Lennie is a slow but George is always on him most of the time because George has dealt with Lennie for most of his life and he gets really irritated with Lennie when he is being dumb but Lennie can’t help himself because it is not his fault that he is slower than the average person. And just how he is slower that has a big factor on how different he is from the rest of the characters in this book because the rest of the characters in this book are small and a lot smarter than Lennie and so far it seems that Lennie is the only slower character in this book.
But Lennie is not only tall as a tree strong as an ox and about as smart as a rock but hes actually really sweet like candy. For example in the book when Lennie and George were on their way walking to the farm and they were talking about how lennie likes to pet soft animals like mice and rabbits, that is an example of how nice and sweet lennie really is even if he seems to be a big and bad man. But because Lennie is so caring and a gentle giant that is what makes him so unique and such a special character in this book, because most of the other characters in this book are small yet feisty. So from that you can already tell that Lennie is different from the characters.
Research Connections
The research that we have conducted does have a big influence on what we have read so far in the book. Like one of the research topics was Mental Retardation and that has to do with Lennie because Lennie is not bright at all and is a lot slower than everyone else in the book and even the way that he acts and the way that he does things you can tell right away that something is wrong with him. And one other of the research topics was the great depression and that has to do with everyone in the book because it seems like that time that they were in, in the book it was hard to keep a job and to make money because as you can see in the book Lennie and George were moving from job to job they had just gotten fired from one job and were on their way to another job. And another topic in the book was migrant workers and that really what George and Lennie were they were working at ranches and move to different ranches that has crops that are in that season.
A Coney Island Life Final Draft
In life you may never know exactly when your time will be up. You just know that eventually it will run out. So with that little time that you have you should make the best of it, and keep striving for more and never settle. "A Coney Island life" by James Weil is a poem that's about a man that has lived on the coney island his whole life and is telling us about his life and how little time he has left. But this poem teaches people to appreciate everything that life has given us but to always strive for more. So that when your time does run out you know that you will have achieved that brass ring.
One of the main things that James Weil is preaching in this poem is that everyone should be thankful for what they receive and achieve, because no one ever knows when they wont be able to do those things anymore. For example in the poem when James Weil says "how many more times round I have left." hes saying that he personally doesn't have that much time left in his life and he wasn't really thankful for what he has received and achieved in his life and he has only realized now that he should have been more thankful for those things. And when James weil says"Before the game is up." He is saying that when their time is up its UP and they don't have any second chances so they should me the most of what they have left and not live with any regrets.
The main things that James Weil is preaching in this poem is that people should always want more and never settle or give up. Because if they do they won't achieve anything in life and we won't be happy. And what James Weil is saying when he says "Now arms filled with dolls I threw so much for." Is that he never gave up or even settled and for doing so he has recieved many awards and prizes. So that's what he wants everyone to do also. So that we can live a more happy and fun life. In the poem when James Weil says "On roller coaster ups and downs." Hes saying that in life there are going to be times where you are going to be over joyed with happiness and also times of struggle and sadness but to always remember to enjoy the good times and work threw the bad and make the most of your life.
Therefore, we should work hard dream big and never give up. And we should also appreciate everything that life offers us and take it because we never know when we will get that chance again. But most importantly we should make the most of our life and keep on moving forward to reach the brass ring.

Final Draft Of Metaphor Poem
I can show you the world
and help you see things differently
at times I can seem far or I can be very close
but I always come up to help you
I help you when life starts to get a little blurry
and I can always be there for you
But if you mishandle me I will break
and help you see things differently
at times I can seem far or I can be very close
but I always come up to help you
I help you when life starts to get a little blurry
and I can always be there for you
But if you mishandle me I will break
And crack and bend
Because I am fragile
I can only be put back together if you fix me
But to avoid all of that just handle me with care
I can also come in different variations depending on my mood
I can be big and circular and dorky
but only if im comfortable with my surroundings
and I can be small, petite and have skinny frames
if I feel insecure or nervous
The things that I'm capable to help you with
You wouldn't be able to live without me
I may be skinny a fragile
But I am as good as you need me to be
Because I come in different prescriptions
I am a helper
But most importantly I am your glasses
Mice & Men Reserch
People who have mental disabilities tend to process things at a slower pace than most. "Intellectual disability is thought to affect about 1% of the population. Of those affected, 85% have mild intellectual disability. " Just because you have a mental disability, it doesn't mean you can't achieve the same things as other people. Although of course things will be harder and you need to modify certain things, it isn't impossible. Some cases are more severe than others meaning they process things slower, or have a harder time doing your typical tasks. "Mental retardation (MR) is a condition diagnosed before age 18, usually in infancy or prior to birth, that includes below-average general intellectual function, and a lack of the skills necessary for daily living." Simple things such as putting on your clothes or feeding yourself can be a calling depending on how server your case is. With the proper type of care and support even though you have mental disabilities you can still grow up and live a semi normal life. "The usual presenting symptoms in people with mental retardation are impairment in adaptive functioning, rather than low IQ."
The typical IQ score for average humans are 100 points. The typical score for people who suffer from a mental disability is in the range of 70-75 or lower. They also observe you as a child and the way you go about with your life. "It includes intellectual deficits and difficulty functioning in daily life in areas such as communication, self-care, home living, social/interpersonal skills, self-direction, academics, work, leisure, health, and safety." Having a mental disability does hold you back from doing things such as a normal person. You may have different though processes or different ways of doing things. Simple tasks, could be very challenging for people who have disabilities.
" Recently a significant proportion of individuals with mental retardation were cared for in residential faculties such as state-run training schools. " This proves that the problem with mental disabilities is becoming better

A coney island life poem evaluation rough draft
In life you may never know exactly when your time will be up. You just know that eventually it will run out. "A Coney Island life" by James Weil teaches us to appreciate everything that life has given us but to always strive for more. One of the main things that I got out of this poem is that we should be thankful for everything that we receive and achieve, because we don't know when we won't be able to do those things anymore. For example on the poem when he says "how many more times round I have left." In that he's telling us that he doesn't have that much time left and he wants us to make the most of the time we have left because he didn't. And he wants us to make the most of it so that we can feel more pleased when we pass and not feeling empty like him. When he says "Before the game is up." He is saying that when our time is up its UP and we don't have any second chances so we should me the most of what we have left and not live with any regrets.
The main thing that I had gotten out of this poem is that we should always want more and never settle or give up. Because if we do we won't achieve anything in life and we won't be happy.
